211(ish) day anniversay of our flag

03.11.06

There was much contention over whether it was actually 211 days exactly since we won the flag last year, and it was debated on many levels during the night. One thing was for certain though, we had definitely won it, and it was a time for celebration (still).

It was an impromptu party at the Prince that hosted the festivities and the night was documented not so much in full photographic glory, but with more of retrospective documentarian style. On the back of the Prince Of Wales Coasters. Keep watching the Herald Sun for the commemorative plates and collect the whole set…

From the backline, those with ticks were present…

… there was also another count a bit later (cause soupy wasn’t too happy with the hopscotch nature of the initial documentation)…

Johnny LambChops (our beloved President) requests the pleasure of the company of all St. Kilda City Football Club players at tonight’s traning session at the Peanut Farm for a delicious feast of assorted meats and golden fitness-ale after a light training run.

This evening’s get-together is for the benefit of all, get to know the boys that you don’t yet know so well, get to know the boys that you know quite well even better, and get to know some passer-by’s as they pass by while you’ve got your tackle out. There’s something for everyone!

The passing of the batton

03.01.06

At monday’s training the captain for the St. Kilda City Saints was announced. Mark (Taz, Dorothy, Dot) Tasian will skipper the side for the year, trying his darndest to fill the boots of the almighty captain Cotter who has been rock solid for the past few years. The batton passes gracefully and no doubt Cotts will still provide leadership on the field with his trademark grit and determination that has made him such a great example over the years.

captain tazTaz has always shown himself to be a leader, more often than not taking it upon himself to be the teams’ fitness coach, whilst at the same time playing an active role in the leadership group, and kicking out the jams on-field whenever he gets even a sniff of the leather. As leading goal scorer for the league he played a big part in our rise back to division one last year and is a fitting successor to Shaun.

Unfortunately, Dot was trying a little too hard tonight as he busted out of the gates toward a contest at training and fell awkwardly on his ankle, shreaks of pain filled the peanut farm as he was escourted from the ground to the deafening silence of the rest of the team. After Taz left the field we got on with it only to find, upon retreat to the clubhouse post-warmdown, that Taz had only suffered a mild scratch at best, a meer fleshwound that might see him sitting out next weeks training sessions for a rubdown or two, but he’ll be back before we know it.

Congratulations on the captaincy and lets hope that ankle mends soon. All the best Dot.
