st kilda village

The SKVTG was formed in 2000.

The principal purpose of the SKVTG is to present traders and other businesses within the Acland Street Precinct with an organized voice so that their trade and interests may be professionally and effectively promoted, and so that the variety and vibrancy of the Precinct may be preserved.

The primary source of funding is levies raised and collected from traders within the Precinct by the City of Port Phillip. Hence, the SKVTG is funded by you – the Trader – and is your voice.

A recent initiative of the SKVTG is to create awareness of the Precinct through the creation of the identity “St Kilda Village”. This initiative extends to include promotional material delivered through various media channels, including web-site, film, and printed promotional material.

In the past, the SKVTG has also successfully lobbied on behalf of traders. Examples of these initiatives includes: representations to the City of Port Phillip and other related authorities in respect of streetscape (pigeon droppings, poles signs, bollards, street cleaning, kerb-side trading standards, toilet block redevelopment); footpath trading fees; extended trading; car parking; licensing accord; security and the St Kilda Festival.

The SKVTG holds their regular Committee and Traders’ meeting on the last Monday of each month at 6pm. Any trader who wishes to initiate a discussion regarding any aspect of the Precinct is welcome to attend!
